My name is Sara from Iran, and I wanted nothing more than peace and forgiveness after seeing the honor-killing of my neighbor – a young girl who was brutally killed by her father because she had a secret boyfriend.
I became angry, mad, confused and betrayed by a religion I had followed my entire life. I became disillusioned with Islam and started hating God. My life was empty and I had no reason to live.
So one night I went online to search for a quick and relatively painless way to kill myself. But instead I landed on social app with a message that shook me to the core. The post said “Thinking of suicide? God is not dead and He cares for you”.
After much struggle, I replied to the message that was posted by Mohabat TV and after several weeks of deep personal struggle, I decided to follow Jesus. I chose Jesus because in Christian faith a women’s life is valued and the Christian God is not a violent God. I have peace, I have found hope and my life now has a purpose.
Today I lead a secret home group composed of teenage girls who are looking for meaning and purpose in their lives. God is truly love.
